Over the years I've tried to define my passions, or maybe I should say contain my passions, but there are just too many to count. I love so many different things that I have finally decided to fully embrace the term "eclectic". When I first started restyling furniture, I listened to those that told me that I needed to paint in shades of white, tan, or grey, in order to define my look as Shabby Chic/French Country/Cottage. I let myself be convinced that I had to keep colors neutral in order to market my creations. In the beginning, I listened to them...
But then I got bored...I needed more color, more excitement, more variety. I just knew, in my heart, there had to be others like me out there...people who adored color! So I started to add color and variety to the pieces that I restyled....and I LOVED it!
While I love the pure, clean look of a neutral pallete, sheer white linens, and white slipcovers, I also adore a room filled with bright colors and a variety of patterns.
So, here's the deal...I just absolutely refuse to choose! I love them both, so for now I'm embracing a kind of French Bohemian decor and style...lucious, vibrant colors....lacy, sheer white linens....gorgeous pops of brightly painted furniture.....worn wood finishes...and so much more!
I love the romance that both styles have to offer, and I believe that they both have a place in today's modern homes. ~Varina
